Details
The survey includes approximately a dozen works by each artist, exposing various points of aesthetic convergence, such as the use of diffused color, a reliance on line and drawing and intimate scale. Michael Auping worked closely with each artist to select works that emphasize connections between their individual aesthetics. Major loans from the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D. C., as well as private collections throughout the United States are included. The exhibition catalogue features an essay by Auping and interviews with each of the artists.
