Commissioned in 1992 in honor of the 100th anniversary of the museum, the proceeds of which fund the museum’s exhibitions program through The Artist’s Fund endowment.
Julie Bozzi s focuses on “commercial, standardized” foods, lowest common denominator foods, things that look, smell and taste like America. Bozzi also paints still-lifes, portraits and especially landscapes with the same intention in mind, of identifying and representing something truly American. The result is a witty and visually engaging statement about a particular period of American consumerism and its culture of abundance.
